Torso PlatingThen next step in cybernetics is the full replacement of the human body and all it's organs. However until that day comes there is an alternative which is more forgiving to the body and spirit of the potential Cyborg®. With the body completely encased in a shell of hardened steel and titanium the operative can be considered aptly protected from the rigors of the modern world. The Torso Plating has a unique design of free floating plates and bone anchors that results in a low impact, fully integrated cyber system. Contact is maintained along the nervous and skeletal systems while maintaining separation from all other major organs including most of the skin. The Torso Plating system includes an air circulation system through a very comfortable porous foam lining to maintain skin temperature and humidity. |

5/4/2057 | Now this is what I've been waiting for ever since I heard of the Cybertorso a few months back. I just knew there had to be another way to get that kind of performance. |
5/4/2057 | Don't break out the champagne just yet. Torso plating falls short of a cybertorso in several areas. Most of them in the performance department. Strength and speed enhancements are limited, as is the amount of bodyware you can safely install. Not to mention that the torso plating can be removed with standard cybertronic tools that come with your maintenance kit. And if you have Strength enhancements on your cyberlimbs then you couldn't take off the torso plating or the limbs would rip out of their sockets. |
5/5/2057 | Well at least this won't kill me like a cybertorso would. |
5/5/2057 | There is that... |
Face PlateAnother middle of the road cyber enhancement that bridges the gap between external equipment and the full replacement of the biological systems for cybernetic equivelants. The Face Plate resembles a mask and connects to two datajacks located conveniently at the temples. With ASIST© technology the faceplate translates the data from it's video and audio components direclty into the neural interface. You'll think they're your own eyes and ears. You won't be able to tell the difference! |
Game Effects | Essence Cost | Price | Legality | Availability | Street Index | Face Plate | +1 Impact, +1 Ballistic Can accept up to 1 Essence cost in additional Headware without further essence loss. Cannot be fitted with a Tactical Computer or any Matrixware. | .5 | 20,000¥ | 5P-CA | 5/14 days | 2 |
5/4/2057 | About the only thing I can say about these kabuki masks is that they can be usefull when some slag is throwing his fist at your face. Otherwise invest in good cybereyes with natural looking lenses and leave this flashy drek to the posers. |
5/5/2057 | Pretty much all this stuff can be integrated into an external helmet. So why bother? |
5/5/2057 | All you hosers can suck elf! Image people, image. The chrome commands respect, and he who dies with the most chrome is immortal. |
5/6/2057 | LOL. Well now that we've heard from the kiddies with the inferiority complex we can all go out and get nice shiney masks so that we can all look like clowns as we zap each other with our laser guns! Seriously kid GAL. |
CyberCowlA form fitting Skull Plate that provides a ready interface between man and machine. The cybercowl has been tested with 8 Dir-X Matrix connections running simultaneously without loss of signal or undue impact on the host's biosystem. Communications suites are possible additions to a Cybercowl and have proven very popular. A major advantage of the Cybercowl is the ease with which it's subsystems can be upgraded. |
Game Effects | Essence Cost | Price | Legality | Availability | Street Index | Cyber Cowl | +2 Impact, +1 Ballistic Can accept up to 1.5 Essence cost in additional Headware and Matrixware without further essence loss. Cannot accept Eye or Mouth related Headware. And cannot be fitted with an Olfactory Booster. | .5 | 10,000¥ | 6P-CA | 5/14 days | 1.5 |
5/4/2057 | I have a great story about this one. About two years ago I went out and got a Cranial Deck. Top of the line, all to spec and all that, neh? Wouldn't you know it, five weeks later SOTA catches up with it. I upgrade software and firmware for all I'm worth until I have to accept I'm bailing water with a broken pail. So I go under the knife and upgrade all the hardware components. Oh yeah, I'm a happy decker, for all of about two months. Then some bright boy in Denmark of all places comes up with a better core processor for ASIST enabled processes. I am seriously pissed, everyone is converting to the new standard and I'm stuck with over 400k of drek stuck in my skull. So I decide to take the whole thing out and go back to traditional decks. Now I have a hole in the base of my skull that's covered by a plastic skullcap. Nothing to do for it but learn from my mistakes and not screw around with the insides of my skull, neh? So then the Cybercowl hits the market. I talk it over with my cyberdoc and he tells me I can place the inteface jacks where the cranial deck used to be, and he'll throw in some memory space for free. I get the cybercowl. I buy a good rug. Two weeks later SOTA leaves my new deck in the dust. But this time all I have to do is snap it off, burn in the new MPCP and Persona Module and I'm back for business the next day. I love the new cybercowl and it lets me go into places with a deck where I used to get hassled. |
5/5/2057 | That's a great story, but even the best Cybercowls leave a noticable lump at the back of the head. Not so easy to pass through any sort of checkpoint. And if they have a scanner then forget about it. btw: Nice deal on the memory. |
5/5/2057 | Well if they have a scanner then you can forget the Cranial Deck getting through as well. The idea is to not be noticed because you're lugging around a deck-sized briefcase in an area where everyone else has a clipboard and pen. btw: I guess he thought he owed me something for all the money I'd been spending at his shop lately. |
12/10/2058 | If that's you're scan then why not just get it installed in your cyberarm? |
