Background:
  Kinshishi is two times an enigma to researchers of the nova phenomenon. The first thing that is unusual about his eruption is that he erupted while he was sleeping. Cases of people erupting while asleep compose less than one percent of the total of reported cases. And those cases have all been reliably classified as Revelation eruptions. The second odd thing about him is that the form his eruption took gave him the expressed powers and physiological form of a magical beast which is arguably something his daughter would have wished for. The magical beast in popular manga and Japanese culture is most often a sidekick and quite often comic relief. The problem as nova researchers see it is that the man Koma Tategami would not see himself in such a light, at least not as his idealized form which is the basis for many eruptions. Mr. Tategami erupted into a form that his daughter, Tategami Ikako, would have wanted for him. Had his daughter erupted her idealized image would be for herself to be the 'magical girl' which is usually accompanied and aided by the magical beast. In effect it seems as though Mr. Tategami erupted according to the wishes of his daughter and not his own. Comparative profile studies of erupted novas would have suggested that the reserved and self confident Mr. Tategami would have erupted with much more discreet and low key powers and little to no physical change. This case has made necessary a new classification for eruptions of which Mr. Tategami is believed to be the only example. Subconscious Dependant, named for the theory that Mr. Tategami erupted due to what his subconscious believes his dependant subject, in this case his daughter, would want him to be. The form he took is that of a 'Golden Lion Beast' or Kinshishi in Japanese. This would tie in to his daughter's obsession with magical girl manga and animation. However Mr. Tategami himself would not have recognized the terminology or the characterizations as he remained only peripheraly aware of his daughter's interests. Enough to indulge them without understanding what they were about.
  Before his eruption Mr. Tategami was an accountant and not very outgoing. His wife left him for a younger man and lost custody of their daughter due to a drug conviction. He preferred living alone with his daughter and had no vices to speak of. His job allowed him to give her a good life and spend some time with her every now and then. Mr. Tategami would spend most of his cash on DVD's and small electronics for his daughter instead of things for himself. His one passion was model airplanes of which he had a considerable collection. Most people who knew him would classify him as boring.
  After his eruption Kinshishi spent several months in Addis Ababa while luminaries such as Dr. Farah Rashoud and Dr. Yuji Go tested him to see how he erupted the way he did. After the testing he stayed on with Nova Services International of Project Utopia but left after only six months simply because he believed that NSI wasn't serving his best economic interests and that the offers and contracts of DeVries could give him a better deal. Thanks to that representation Kinshishi is one of the biggest stars in the world. He is an impressive 8 feet at the shoulders and 16 feet from snout to rump. His mane is golden and shines while his claws and teeth are actually metallic gold in color even though in strength they are harder than Diamond. In addition to this he has wings like a bird with a wingspan of over 24 feet. He stars in an adventure series with his daughter, though in a departure from the magical girl genre he is the star and she is the sidekick. In addition to the series his endorsement deals and personal appearances provide him with considerable wealth.
  These days Kinshishi is one of the wealthiest and most recognized novas on the planet. His daughter is his constant companion and most kids in Asia and Australia would give their right arm to be her. Several attempts have been made to kidnap her but Kinshishi can always pinpoint her with his Telepathy and reach her in seconds with his speed. On each occasion he simply attuned his daughter and then left with her at supersonic speeds. Not very interested in bringing the culprits to justice he prefers to keep his daughter out of danger rather than charge headlong into fights.
  Kinshishi is currently employed by the government of India to keep the peace between the local avatar novas and the forces of Project Utopia. Kinshishi is better for this role than more military novas due to his Influence and name recognition. His job is to avoid any fights that might break out. Concurrently he is filming the fourth season of his show in exotic locations throughout India. The storyline they are working on involves him and his daughter facing a group of demonic 'Ifrit' who are threatening to destroy the world with a series of natural disasters. Kinshishi battles them and then Ikako sings to put them to sleep. Ikako has become a mega star idol singer thanks to the series. Her latest album hit triple platinum in world wide sales even though she is competing in a nova dominated industry. The popularity of Kinshishi is such that even members of Team Tomorrow would have to be insane to think about taking him down.

Roleplaying Notes:
  Kinshishi is a brand name more than a person. He performs the part of secret magic friend for children all over the world. He really is living his daughter's dream. Since she knows how a magical beast is 'supposed' to act he keeps in near constant telepathic contact with her when he is in front of cameras or a crowd. That way he can pick her brain for the correct phrases to say and what a 'magical beast' should do in any given situation. His daughter draws on a wealth of over a hundred 'magical girl' manga and animation shows for this information. Her favorites she has practically memorized and she has a more than acitve imagination which she uses to create entire fantasy worlds populated by magical creatures and every sort of hero and villian. Because of this Kinshishi comes across as a Paragon and much braver than he actually is.
