Background:
Madine kept a low profile when she erupted. She stayed on at her job waiting tables at a local Denny's and wore sunglasses whenever she went out. People knew she was wierd and different but chalked it up to her being a teenage goth with the usual obsession with darkness. She was a nova but didn't know what to do with her powers or even how they worked. She sought out Basara whom she had heard had powers similar to hers. Basara made a few feeble attempts at the father figure role but her mentor was having trouble concentrating on her as he was being torn between memories of his wife and the love of Victory Angel. She turned to the Teragen for a time but found them to be the same manner of hate mongers as the humans they claimed to oppose. When she was involved in the Chicago 'hate incident' between the Teragen and the Michaelites she saw first hand the Teragen's total disregard for human life, innocent or otherwise, while at the same time the Utopian representatives went out of their way to insure the safety of those present. In particular Battousai and Victory Angel who were leaving themselves open to attack by the Teragen in order to get people to safety. Because of Madine's relationship with Basara she was let free by Victory Angel and later became romantically attracted to the shining 'Angel of Victory'. She worked it out though since Victory Angel was in love with Basara. Also this was her first time attracted to another woman and she wanted to be sure she wasn't just taken in by Victory Angel's Mega Appearance.
After several life and death situations she survived through the help of Basara and the Project Utopia group she has come around and became a member of NSI under the Chicago Branch. She has been through a lot with the group and after the death of Victory Angel she accompanied Battousai and Basara on a mission to get revenge on her murderer, Pestilence. During the battle Pestilence was exiled to hell by Basara but not before leaving an atominc bomb to explode directly above Battousai and Madine. Madine could have easily teleported away and was tempted, but Battousai covered her from the blast with his own body. Moved by this display of selfless sacrifice she stayed and maxxed her teleport to include them both. She just barely managed to teleport them away just ahead of the blast.
Realizing that she had fallen in love with Battousai she determined to get him to notice her. It wasn't long before they became a couple though Battousai still doesn't know quite how that happened. They had a few dates that Battousai didn't realize were dates until afterwards. And even when they had slept together he still wondered why since he thought she was a lesbian. Right up until they went to bed he still thought they were just good friends. Battousai's father pressured them into announcing their engagement, but they aren't seriously contemplating marriage. But that may change once she starts showing. Madine is pregnant with Battousai's child. A son who she's seen in her visions already, but she keeps that quiet...
She is a member of Battousai's Middle East branch of Team Tomorrow. She does more than her share of directing the group's course though it doesn't show. People think Battousai and Victory Angel share the leadership duties. But more often than not it's Madine's timely advice that steers the group.
Roleplaying Notes:
From troubled and rebellious teenager to mature and responsible adult Madine is probably the most changed character of my group. She's more reserved now but still retains an open mind. She's aggresive in what she wants but is very relaxed about everything else and doesn't pressure people unless necessary. She has a dry sense of humor that doesn't detract from the sense of mystery she projects.
