Robots

Workerbot
Worker Robot
There are thousands of robots on The Avalon.  They come in hundreds of styles too.  Not only are they constantly being upgraded and replaced, but almost every other Acolyte builds a robot for his or her Thesis to graduate.  Because of this there are more robots than people.  There are a few types of robots that are more common than others.  These are utility robots that the crew of the Avalon produce on an assembly line.  One of the few concessions to the Technocratic method.  Robots perform a variety of tasks, from the mundane to the extraordinary.  This high turnover also means that there are a lot of obsolete robots hanging around the Avalon.  Sometimes performing minor tasks that duplicate the efforts of the robots that replaced them.  Other times they get in the way and are pushed aside.  Rumors abound on the Avalon of a "Robot Graveyard" where the old robots go to stand around in silence.  Many of these robots have power sources that last for thousands of years.
Competence is an Attribute for robots that represents the ability of the robot to perform its tasks and respond to unusual situations.  Use it in place of Dexterity, Charisma, Perception and Intelligence.

Worker Robot

These general purpose robots are produced to move heavy boxes and to reach high shelves.  They are designed to double over so they can lift and move objects in akward spaces.

Servant Robot

These small robots are designed to cook, clean and flatter.  It was soon discovered that robots had to be designed to lie if they were to get along with their human masters.  Otherwise their programming would have them be brutally honest whenever asked a question.

Security Robot

Whenever a marine gets rowdy while on leave there is very little that normal security personnel can do.  That's why these large security robots where produced.  For each marine at least two or three security bots have to be used to subdue them.  They may be stronger than marines but they are not as skilled in combat.  They are also called Gorillabots because of their ungainly appearance.

Scribe Robot

A Scribe robot is nearly indispensable.  It does everything a personal computer does, as well as a cellphone and it has a storage space to put a bag or purse.  Many of these robots are seen floating about following their masters always ready to answer any question or handle any transaction.  They can also be used to provide illumination and file tax returns online.  They project miniature holograms which also act as an interface if the user wants to be more 'hands on'.  Otherwise they can be controlled by voice command.  Because of their utility and versatility they are often referred to as "Brainbots".
