Alien Races

The Avalon has encountered many alien races over the years and new aliens are being discovered nearly on a weekly basis.  For the most part humans and aliens don't get along very well.  Especially when the humans have a technological and magical advantage.  There are a few exceptions, but these races are usually peacefull and cooperative to begin with.  While there are thousands of races that have been encountered, most do not interact with humans on a regular basis.  Here are three of the most commonly encountered races.

Alien Races

Braggo
The Braggo are a large and brutish race.  These aggressive hervibores are extremely territorial and do not like to share.  Whenever they encounter humans they seek to drive them off through intimidation.  If that doesn't work they try brute force.  If they are defeated they will agree to almost any terms, but they will seek to subvert the agreement as soon as possible.  They have long memories and are surprisingly adept at intruige.  In fact they are particularly adept at using the wording of an agreement to gain an advantage.  They are also quite willing to break an agreement if they believe they wont get caught.  If they do get caught however they do not handle it very well and tend to overreact.  They use a short range weapon with an electric blast to overcome their deficient vision.  Humans call this a Zapper Gun.  The Braggo do have a very acute sense of smell and can locate humans in the dark and under cover.

Quarong
The Quarong are a slender amphibian race with small 'hands' close to their mouths.  They are very intruiged by humans, especially human technology.  They have become allies of the crew of the Avalon.  Mostly to get closer to the humans and study their incredible technology.  Their home planet has 12 rings, no moons and from space looks like a blueberry vanilla swirl milkshake.  The Quarong are purple with yellow dots.  They are also very inquisitive and intelligent.  They eat slugs and soft plants.  Their own technology relies heavily on hydraulics and their electronics are fluid based.

Verrick
The Verrick are an unusual race.  Except for a few facial features, such as their horns and bushy eyebrows, they appear to be completely human.  In fact, since their main goal seems to be to acquire the Avalon by any means necessary, they often pose as humans in order to spy on the crew and commit sabotage.  They are experts at espionage and seem to be a warlike race.  The males wear uniforms in military cut, the females wear dresses and skirts that are revealing, but at the same time seem old-fashioned.  Their own technology is quite advanced and they ply the Deep with massive cruisers.  There doesn't seem to be that many of them though.  Even though they have some cruisers that are nearly a kilometer in length, pilots and marines have never seen more than fifty Verrick in the same place at once.
The Verrick that have been encountered all know English.  Their own language sounds like Dutch, but anyone who knows Dutch will hear gibberish.  Like a man stringing words together without bothering to make sense.  So similar are they to humans that one Verrick is a pilot in Deva wing and his compatriots accept him without complaint.  It's very hard to judge the character of the Verrick as a whole.  While they claim to be fearless and demonstrate a fierce bravery they are also very clearly intimidated by marines.  Their females are very attractive and seem to have a weakness for bold human pilots.  On the other hand they can be very devious and cold.

Xitchies
These parasitic alien pests originally developed on an asteroid field that was the remains of a life bearing planet.  Since then they have hitched rides aboard passing starships to spread like rats across the universe.
Xitchies are anaerobic and exposure to oxygen kills them.
